ROUND THESE PARTS

August 15, 2014

It's so hard to believe that this summer is almost over! I know that's such a cliche to hear but if there's anything that we can all agree on as human beings, it's that time marches on. I'm being very deep and philosophical right now. These past few weeks have been very chill in our household - and by chill I don't mean the temperature unfortunately, but just very relaxing and very routine. Like, not a lot of super fun blog content. I went to the Hawaii! I baked a cake! I bought a purse! My life is amazing and I am so so blessed! Sadly, no Hawaii (I did go to Cambria though and will post pictures later) and no new purse (and Kate Spade is having an insane sale right now, I'm being SO good) but I did bake a cake! And life is awesome and I am #blessed.

Greg's friend won tickets to the Cubs / Dodgers game! So we a double baseball date with him and his girlfriend and they were very lovely. I think as a general rule of thumb, I enjoy things that are free with good company. I mean - just speaking generally. ;) Also Wynonna Judd sang the national anthem and I had a very odd obsession with The Judds as a child; not necessarily their music because I can't name any song their songs, but more of an obsession will how high and full Naomi Judd's skirts were. I watched their concert VHS strictly for the full petticoats and sequins.

We went to Umami Burger. I got the Royale. I felt like a queen.

and it was Greg's birthday, so I made him a chocolate chip cookie cake with cookie dough frosting (using this recipe, which I will probably double next time to make two layers) We did a movie + burger date night last Saturday, which is one of my ultimate favorite combos of any two things. I'm still trying to find the ultimate burger in LA. I think the best one I've had so far is still from Father's Office.

After dinner we walked around our neighborhood, wandering bookstores, peering into apartment buildings we'd love to live in, and I bought Gone Girl because who am I kidding, that stuff is my jam. That stuff being "stories about missing women" - which I know, is totally weird but I eat that shit up. I devoured it in three days and haven't done that with a book in such a long time. Greg was like "wow, you're reading" and I was like "that's really sad that this shocks you."

And today is Friday! Yayyyy. Have a great weekend!
